Sign of the week - Tesco epic fail

Sign of the week - Euro Car Parks Tesco epic fail.

"It's er, free for 30 minutes as long as you pay us £70 after 20 minutes."

[Update 14/05/2014]

The Prankster has been in contact with Euro Car Parks (ECP) who have clarified that this is not one of their authorised signs. Tesco have been producing their own signs with ECP branded details, but which are not authorised in any way by ECP. Tesco have been asked to stop this practice and agreed as far back as 2012, but there are still a few lingering sites where rogue signs remain. The store in question has now been asked to remove the sign, and ECP will be visiting the site this week for a visual inspection.

Tesco still is a client of ECP, so the signage at many stores is legitimate. This should therefore not lead to the assumption that all ECP signs at Tesco car parks are not authorised.

  1. Are Euro trying out the contractual charge model? Like all other PPC's, they are doing a good job when it comes to getting it wrong.

    No BPA logo either

  2. Punctuation seems to be a lost art as well.

I notice the wording is coming close to PE's too. Solely engaged to provide a Maximisation Scheme......

  7. What if you stay 19 minutes, then come back within an hour to stay a further minute?

What if you drive around and stop, but don't park, does the 20/30 minutes not apply?

Sorry, that would blow their minds! LOL

  8. Somebody must proof read these signs and then approve them.

Its incredible to think that something upon which your business replies on so heavily can be wrong so often.

  9. Only the best quality string used to secure it as well. That should withstand anything up to and including (but not exceeding) a gentle breeze.

  10. The disclaimer doesn't seem to apply to parking either, to me traffic space means moving vehicles. Parked cars are not traffic. So they are only claiming responsibility for the vehicles circulating the car park, not those which are stationary in parking spaces.

  11. I am writing on behalf of Euro Car Parks. As far as I am aware, this is not at one of our current sites and I believe that a previous client is using our name without our permission. The sign clearly needs removing as soon as possible. Are you able to provide the location so that I can arrange for the sign to be taken down?

    1. You have 30 minutes to get there. After 20 minutes you will be charged £70 for access LOL

  12. @Emma Yeates.

Why would anyone do your company any favors? You tried to intimidate a friend of mine into giving you money that you had no right too (bad luck on that by the way).

  13. Why should anyone help you put right something that has been pointed out to you as being wrong.

    1. As I have stated, this sign is not at any of our current locations. It is being used by another company, an old client of ours, without our authorisation. People complain about confusing and bad signage on a daily basis on the parking forums. I am attempting to remove one of these confusing signs, and asked that somebody may provide the location if they were aware of it. If you have any complaints about Euro Car Parks please direct them to enquiries@eurocarparks.com. I am only trying to find the location of the sign so that it can be removed.

    2. Hi Emma, I've been out all day. Please email me at prankster@parking-prankster.com. I have emailed the person who sent me this picture to ask the location.
