UKPC advertise job with bonus payments

UKPC are advertising for a parking warden job with a monthly bonus scheme.


The British Parking Association code of practice forbids certain kinds of bonus schemes

9.4 Effective from 1st October 2015, the practice of offering financial incentives to AOS parking attendants/wardens which relate to the quantity of PCNs issued by them, should be prohibited within all new employee contracts.

In The Prankster's opinion, there are no other viable bonus schemes for parking wardens and if UKPC pretend there are, they are dressing up the scheme in weasel words but the basics remain the same.

The scheme has been referred to the BPA, but they have refused to investigate.

  2. How can you issue a charge contractually to those contravening the regulations, it's meant to be a charge for agreeing the regulations and paying the extra charge for what amounts to 'premium parking'. Nice of them to provide evidence it's not a contractual charge then!

  4. This position is for a parking attendant at West Cumberland hospital. There is uproar regarding this as my fellow Cumbrian's and I feel this is preying on the sick and needy. If the hospital was close to Whitehaven town then I could understand some kind of parking management being put in place to help deter people using the car park and then going into town but the hospital is MILES away from the town centre and there is nothing close by that would make you park in the hospital for anything other than hospital business. It is purely a cash making scheme which only UKPC and the NHS will benefit from. Even the NHS' own staff have to pay £20 a month for a parking permit!

    1. It sounds like this contract is in direct contravention of government guidelines

      Contracts should not be let on any basis that incentivises additional charges, eg ‘income from parking charge notices only’.

    3. A few of us locals have sent in complaints about the bonus situation but the BPA refuse to investigate.

  5. I was told earlier in the year by a Metrocentre UKPC "attendant" of an impending bonus scheme.
    I have never had a ticket from UKPC that isn't for a forbidding action. ie parked on cross hatchings, parked on the roadside especially during heavy shopping periods such as pre Xmas.
    I suspect the same will be true for the hospitals they patrol.
